Hi guys.

Due to weather, I will pass on this ride.

:)

Gossip suggests that the weather for Sunday Nov 2 may not be the best for this ocean ride....

Not that I have seen any charts or forecasts... even if I did they would not be of much value to me... but will leave determination to those more experienced and qualified...

Could the 'Rob Gell's' of the group do there 'chart stuff' and make a prediction for Tuesdays Lazy day... previous long range forecast by Scotchie suggested it would be fine... was still interested in inviting some friends down to experience the sensation...

Hi guys,,,,is this trip longer than the poker runs a few years ago.

hello is there anybody there,,,,, nrma

Hi Paul,
Was not on that poker run so can't answer on that. Our typical extended rides are in the 120 to 140 Km range so at 180 Kms this is a significantly longer ride meaning good fuel planning, snacks and water supplies are essential.

The ride will take in some very scenic coastline particularly around the surf beaches and the lighthouse area at Airey's Inlet so it will be best done on a day where battling the elements is not the main theme.

For comparison (in distance)........
Not sure if this helps, however here is a Gippsland trip that the group has done a few times that covers the same distance.......
Launch at Latrobe river in Sale township, follow river to Lake Wellington, through Lake Victoria, Lake King etc to Lakes Entrance township and return.

The above Gippsland trip and the planned Rye to Lorne trip cover basically the same one way and return distances.

Why be normal when you can be yourself....

Have been holding off posting any weather charts for the planned Rye/St Leonards to Lorne trip hoping things might improve.
Unfortunately the conditions are still not looking good for a Bay and Ocean trip on Sunday.

Wave reports for Ocean side on Sunday predict waves around 2 metres.

BOM - Sunday COASTAL WATERS Forecast

Winds: East to northeasterly 10 to 20 knots tending east to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon. Seas: Up to 2 metres. Swell: Southwesterly 2 metres. Swell: Easterly 0.5 metres. Isolated thunderstorms from midday.

The charts below show wind speed and direction projections for Sunday in the Lorne area.

This should be a great ride when conditions are suitable and more Funsters are able to make it.

As can happen this ride has been CANCELLED DUE TO UNSAFE WEATHER FORECAST of open waters.

Stand by Funsters as there will still be some rides happening from within the Bay
