Then there is the South East Lighthouse at the tip of Wilsons Prom..great if the conditions allow you to get down there & we weren't let down on Boxing Day..

We launced a bit later this mornng due to Hutch winning the raffle at the local pub last night and Reb insisting everything was "cleaned up" before sleeping.
h'Ed, we watched your DVD production last night and everyone was blown away by it - great work!.

Furry one, we missed you today. You would have loved it :(.  wmonk

Glad you liked the DVD.... I thought that the TV at the house was an old format 4:3 rather than widescreen 16:9... hmmm would have made for some interesting distortions and body pics....
If anyone would like a copy just pm me and I will send one out...

Have started working on version 2... am open to format suggestions....but need more rides.... Sale / Murray rivers and Hazelwood would be great for some actions shots.... am getting the hang of the new camera... it can be too specific in scenery versus people ... next outing will just leave it in auto but am always tempted (pwcfun influence) to fiddle....

Oh yes ... Fury one... where is your absentee note and free round of drinks for being away...???

See me for all your emotional and mtc needs...

PS Thanks for a great day and I did get better as the day progresses (must have been the company) so now I have learnt a valuable lesson... and will leave with a quote
"Slow h'ED is better than No h'ED"

Ok day 2 of our Boxing Day Adventure ride meant some rider changes as df537 & h'ED could only ride friday this meant that we were joined by df323, Cesare, James G, Ajet, Lorry, Gerry, Bandit, Charlie & Bern making it 13 riders for Sat.
Yamahas seem to be the flavour on this occasion with Hutch, Scotchie, Focker, df323, Charlie, Bern leading the way  mb with 2 Kawas (Lorry & Gerry) and the reaminder Seadoo (they know who they are).... str

Attached are some maps detailing the recorded GPS tracks of the Friday 26Dec08 Boxing Day ride (6 riders)

Note: The Saturday ride (13 riders) followed basically the same path to Refuge Cove. On arrival at Refuge 8 riders chose to relax and sunbake in the stunning surroundings.

For the 5 who continued on (Cesare, James G, Bandit, Royal, and Rebel Doo) it was a case of a challenging run through 25 to 30 knot Winds and White caps taking the direct route to the Wilson Prom light.

On the return run back to Refuge cove (to rejoin the main group for lunch) we hugged the coast and had a much easier time of it.

Here's the notorious Whale Rock.
It is located approx 20 Kms South of Port Welshpool  adjacent to Lighthouse point.  Forget any image of a tall, white easy to see light structure as this one is just a ‘low set’ fully automated light which is partially obscured by trees and shrubs when riding fairly close to shore (a la scenic jetski style).

Depending on tidal conditions the rock can be hidden (lurking) just under the water out view. At other times as shown here it is visible on and off with the swell and waves. Again depending on conditions it appears (from a distance) as a black whale complete with water spout caused by the sea surging over the craggy top.
It would be very easy to ride (particularly from Nth to Sth) around the corner and find it nicely lined up ‘dead ahead’..........

Have figured out a way to add a modifier to Garmin maps (see modified map below) so that now have a large Red Danger Zone for the area. Still need to remember to be in ‘map mode’ and not ‘compass’ or something else. Have come up with some for a few parts of Pt Phillip bay also.

Hey JamesG....... You're going to love this pic......

This was taken on the Day 2 ride where just 5 of the 13 riders continued on to Wilson's Prom Light from Refuge Cove.
As stated we slogged through 25-30 Kts gusting winds with white caps all round in the open Bass Strait (no wonder they set a race record this year in the Sydney to Hobart classic). On arrival at the Lighthouse the conditions weren't too bad. The big 'pay off' came on the return journey where we hugged the coast and explored every cove all the way back to Refuge cove.

This pic was taken at the Southern end of Waterloo Bay - the colours and surroundings say it better than words......

JamesG - PM me your email if you want the full size version

cheers rd
