We are off again on our Port Welshpool ride.

This ride will be a ride will be the next feature article for some local and overseas magazines. So get in if you want to see you pic in print.

Please see our last ride details to familiarise yourself with the beauty of the area. I advise that this ride only be attempted with a group of experienced riders with local knowledge.

If you would like to attend the ride but are unsure, feel free to ask RebelDoo, Scotchmonster, Focker or H'ed any questions in relation to the ride. They will be more than happy to assist.

Advanced riders only.

Details
The details will vary depending on the weather conditions present when launching. So don't be upset if the ride changes in content or is cancelled.

The plan is to launch from Port Welshpool. We will then head south along the East coast of Wilsons Promontary. We will visit Sealers Cove and stop for lunch at Refuge Cove. We will then return the way we came, visiting Rabbit Island on our way back to Port Welshpool. We may even get a look at some islands in the area.

Latest Convoy Details
We have two days of riding planned. There are some people riding Friday, others Saturday, and others again riding both days.

Friday Riders
For those riding on the Friday, we are meeting at Halls Rd Macca's for departure at 5.45am. So if you need to fuel or other, arrive earlier so we can leave at 5.45am. We will then head in convoy to Port Welshpool for Brekky at 7.30am and launching time of 8.00-8.30am.

Saturday riders can meet the group at the Port Welshpool General store for Brekky at 8.00am. We will already be in Port Welshpool, so meet us there.

Friday Ride
Friday's ride will be an exploratory ride around the Bay of Welshpool, with runs to Port Franklin, Bennison Is and Corner Basin. If we see all we need to, we can take another run down to Sealers Cove. This ride will be about 120-130kms in distance, so riders will need to bring extra fuel. Allow another 20%.
This area is frequented by sharks, so i suggest due care be taken be aware of any consequences.

Saturday Ride
TBC. But allow for another 130km ride at least.

Latest Weather
Friday:  Winds: North to northeasterly 5 to 15 knots tending northeast to northwesterly up to 10 knots around midday then tending southwesterly up to 15 knots during the afternoon. Seas: Up to 1.5 metres. Swell: Southwesterly 0.5 to 1.5 metres. Swell: Easterly about 1 metre.
Saturday:  Winds: South to southeasterly 5 to 10 knots becoming light during the morning then tending southwesterly up to 10 knots during the afternoon. Seas: Below 1 metre. Swell: Southwesterly 1 metre. Swell: Easterly 1 metre.

Accomodation Update.

Since theres a few extra people coming along the caravan park was unable to accomodate us BUT Heres some good ol' fashioned country spirit for you - The people of Port Welshpool have arranged a house for us to stay in.

Its a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home with front and back yards for the skis to park in, across the road from the ramp. Yep near the pub (NB. sometimes has a bit of an early closing issue so byo as well).

Please make sure you make your intentions to stay on Friday night clear (also if your now not staying & on the list below) so we can be sure to make room for everyone. They are bringing in extra beds and towells if needed.

I have got a mate that would consider doing the ride also.
How ever he has 03 RXdi never really done long distance rides so just unsure of how far he could go with the amount of fuel he can carry.
His riding skills are up there so thats not a issue.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers

The RXdi is one of the best skis for endurance. If the 4 Smokers can make the ride the RXdi will do it with about half a tank to spare
A bad day on the water is better than a good day in the office.

wc UltraGreen. And thanks to df323 that was well put. Just so you know this is his "new" Ski  pp  He likes to ride it with his friend  wmonk mk1 & if they can make it around Welshpool the Ultra will be fine  chr

Welcome Ultragreen.  Great to have another big Kawi in the group.

I reckon, if you take it carefully you will be fine.

(df537, Scotchy and others, please give some guidance)

We ride as a group and always look out for each other.

Safety of all riders is number 1.

I'm still very much a learner, and this group always look after me.  They are kind to old folk.  dnc dnc

Please have a read of the Rider Etiquette.  It gives realy good guidance.

As. I said, welcome along.

You will have a greaaaaaaat time.

Hi and  wc Ultragreen.....

Concerning the Port Welshpool trip.
For info: On these longer rides conditions can change considerably from start to finish, plus the area is not as familiar as (for example) the Bay. For these reasons we ride with a lead rider and a sweeper. Additionally, every rider is assigned at least one "rider buddy" meaning they ride together and watch out for each other throughout the whole trip.

We enjoy the sport, enjoy the rides in a wide variety of locations and are mindful that hazards and the unexpected can (and do) occur so we endeavour to look out for each other as much as possible.

Feel free to ask more questions or better still try and catch a couple of rides before Welshpool.
