Change of Launch Location at Werribee South, Victoria
« on: August 21, 2012, 06:27:03 PM »
Attention PWC Users at Werribee South:

The Werribee South Jet Ski Ramp will be removed in September 2012.  In line with the change in legislation, PWC riders are now able to launch from the much safer location, the Werribee South Boat Ramps.  More information about Council's decision to remove the Jet Ski ramp can be found at: http://www.experiencewyndham.com.au/leisure__recreation/water/powered_water_craft

More information about the facilities available at the Werribee South Boat Ramp can be found at:

I still find it difficult to understand why there is a fee associated with using a Boat Ramp in Victoria.
Yes they are costly to maintain, however the Marine Industry is the second biggest industry in the State and already contributes hugely to the economy.
There is also a seriously low number of ramps available given the amount of Boats (with paid rego) that need these facilities.

There was a reduced parking at Mordi if you had a local resident pass. Perhaps this Council could implement something like that for the Locals who fund this ramp with their R&T.

In Qld the ramps are all free to use and to Park at. Sometimes we just launch off the Beach anyway as there are so many inland waterways.
The Councils still get their money though as they clean up booking Cars parked without Trailers at the Boat Ramps. It's a better level of respect for the industry.

I thank the Council for letting us know the new situation, it's great to not get a surprise if you turn up ready to ride and find out the hard way.
However it would be great if the Marine focused employees of Transport Vic could get behind improving the launch and retrieve situation and look to other ways for revenue raising.

My preference is booking Cars with no Trailer - actually I really like that idea  bleh
