My USA Jet ski adventure ride
« on: March 20, 2013, 07:28:44 PM »
16 months ago I took the whole family to the USA for a 5 week trip.
We went to LA, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Orlando, The Bahamas, Miami, Orlando, New Orleans, LA Hollywood - In that order.

I organised for myself to do an adventure ride for the first weekend I was there.
I hired a pick up Ute at 7:30 am from U-Haul then a VX1800 from another place and went down to the Lake Meade Boat Ramp.
I was $hiting myself driving for the first time on the RHS of the road, in a big F150 Ford Pick Up, towing a jetski.
I launched in the morning, crossed Lake Meade and headed to Hoover Dam by myself.
As I was there I saw two skis with Jerry Cans attached. We started chatting and as turns out, they are members of Greenhulk and were at Lake Havasu. They wanted to see Hoover Dam/Colorado River and were planning a  random adventure ride as well. So Mark, Andy and myself headed  through the narrows, up the Colorado and out towards the Canyon.
Overall we did a 225km ride through some breath taking scenery. We filled up at Temple Bar Marina twice. First time I didn't know how to use their petrol bowsers (yes, they are different there - well, these were anyway)  and they were laughing at me.
This ride was truly one of the best rides I had ever done in my life. I wont forget it.
I brought my own rash vest, tourcoat, gloves, etc from Australia. Used them that day then packed them in a box and posted them back to Oz on Monday.
I left the family in Vegas that day and I returned back to the Strip at about 8pm.
