Stx15f 2006 water in engine
« on: July 26, 2016, 07:25:18 AM »
Hi all
I recently bought a stx15f 2006 with 300 hours on it and am having issues with it somehow getting water above the Pistons ,
This happens after a ride , it starts as it should in the water then if I stop it and try to restart it won't start , if I take out plugs it squirts out wAter like a whale,
Then I spray inside with oil put plugs in and it starts(on trailer)
The engine oil itself does not get water in it ,
Got a day off work so gonna start with removing number one muffler ,
Any input welcome , and if you live near Fernvale Qld a hand even better,
Cheers Chris

Gotta be the head gasket hasnt it? Head will need to be remachined too by the sound of it.

Was thinking that as well but starting at easiest cheapest first, also thinking if it was the head the oil would be milky but it's not ,
From what I have read the first muffler corrodes at rubber seal,
Not had time to look yet as I got sidetracked

Hi Chris,

This needs to be sorted really quickly. You can get the parts you need from Jet Sports http://jetskiparts.com.au/

Call in to us to get some of our oil additive which will protect the motor. Jet Sports will have it in next week though.

I'll have a chat to you then :)

Yes I think the problem is elsewhere too probably what Johno said.

I have the same problem. I removed sparks so the water can come out and after that oil and water got mixed. I do not know what to do about it. If You fix it, please let me know.

I had my exhaust manifold pressure tested at jet sport and it had rotted out inside,
They sold me a tested used one , for half the price of a new one ,
Not got it back together yet  to test but hope to try it this weekend ,

If its exhaust fault, shouldn't there be water inside jetski body?  Mine is dry inside, water gets only in engine.

To the eye the exhaust can look ok , even when removed , the problem happens inside where you can't see, water is pumped through the engine out into the exhaust manifold to cool it, but because of the rot in the manifold water gets forced back up into engine because it's getting into the wrong chamber,
The water don't leave the external walls of the manifold to get into the hull,

Just took the ski out after fitting new exhaust manifold and it's still getting water in top end , so although the old manifold failed a pressure test it was only part of the problem , thinking must be the head gasket , strange no water getting into the oil though ,

Before changing the manifold they were no signs of water in the oil ,
But having changed the manifold and also done an oil change while I was working on it,
They is now a milky oil filler cap, so head has defo gone, strange that no milky cap before ,
