Hi everyone,
Greetings from Vanuatu.
I moved there from France with my Seadoo RXT-X 260RS 2010 and a mod Yamaha superjet 2004.
No chance to ride together unfortunately but I really enjoy this forum and will try to share some good things anyway. I like free riding and waves.

Cheers

Hi guys,
My name is Shane and have just purchased a Yammy FX160. Can't wait to get out on a few longer rides with others.
Purchased the ski to do a bit of fun, rides and fishing. At present the ski is basic but in the next few months the goodies will
start. Have some great plans for fishing setup so will post as i progress. Also feel i want to customise decals etc.

See you on the water soon.

Hi Jet Skiers,
This is a long shot but....
I'm getting married on the 6/6/15 at 3pm at Riverside Receptions New Farm, Brisbane. We were throwing around the idea of fun arrival for the boys....
There are 7 men that would need a jet ski lift/entrance to the wedding from up the river. Boarding at Sydney St ferry terminal and getting off at Riverside Receptions the "Merlo coffee man's" jetty New Farm.

Its not a long trip, it would probably be less then 5 minutes.
No idea if this is what you do or if person or peoples would be interested, but I was thinking (dreaming lol) if we could have drivers they could drive past the guests do a few spins, tricks, revs??, get the guests attention, drive past and pick up the boys, drive back past and drop them off.

Total Bond entrance :)
Let me know your thoughts, if its doable or a waste of time.
I hope this is ok to post on your board.

Thank you

Hi Nicole,

Great to meet you  wv

Sadly I don't get to ride anywhere near as much in Vic as I used to. These days it's usually the Gold Coast or Moreton Bay.
We are planning a few trips back to Vic though and some into NSW as a group. The next Vic trip will be in May.

You are wc to join us on any of them that you like the look of.
Hopefully there's more women riding in Vic these days. Interestingly there are heaps here with many rides having a few women.

In the next few weeks the Jet Ski App will be out so stay posted. This will enable you to see who's out on the water at any given time and you can then make friends and go for a ride together.

There is more info on how it works here; http://jetskiapp.mobi/use-jet-ski-app/

Cheers,

Mandy

Hi Trent, Congrats on your new Ski!
Melbourne is a fantastic place to ride. There are 4 main ports to go out from heaps of lakes and countless boat ramps.
This means that you can always find a place with shelter from the wind depending on the direction.
I'm sure @George (http://thejetski.club/index.php?action=profile;u=40) will let you know when he is riding next so you can tag along with him when you're ready!

Hello to all in the jetski club. Michele here, a new member from Tamborine Qld. I have just purchased a Seadoo Spark which I am having a blast on.
I am interested in meeting people of similar interest, playing in the surf on your own can get quite boring.
Have only clocked 3 hours on it so far, I need to get out there more to run it in. I have only been out from Runaway Bay and would be keen to venture into different territory.
Anyway, let me know if your heading out and I may be up for some company on the water.

Looking forward to meeting with you all.

Hi Rose here,

My husband and I are planning to purchase a jet ski once we are settled on which one to get!  Maybe Seadoo wake 155 or GTX 155.  We are in Brisbane, and looking forward to learning the ins and outs of jetskiiing.  We have teenage kids so they are pretty keen to get going!  I will start a thread in the general forum asking some advice on which ski if anyone wants to chime in.  So great that there are these clubs for jetskiing!

Hi Everyone, I'm Kevin located in Melbourne. I have just purchased my first jet ski Yamaha 2015 FX SHO.
I take delivery next week. Can't wait. Done a lot of research on boat ramps around Vic and downloaded the Yamaha app which is good. Once the wether improves I'm obviously going through the learning process and will be looking to join interested parties on some fun rides. I too will be riding alone but I'm sure there's plenty of fun places to ride with others interested.

The water is currently at 45% full you can still travel around the lake quite well and the best boat ramp is boat ramp No 1 of sunset Dr  near Kimbolton Kiosk look up in google Lake Eppalock and it is no far past the spill way. If you are heading up drop me a message and will meet you out there if I'm not rostered to work Cheers Shane.

My name is Thomas and I just bought my first Jetski. I had a boat for a few years but had to sell it a year ago.
Now I want to get back into the water. I didn't grow up here around the water and still need some guidance around the Moreton Bay area.

Looking forward for social rides to get a better understanding of the rivers and the bay.
I am based in Mango Hill and looking forward to be an active member.

See you around

Hi all,

Long time water skiers and dirt bike riders, venturing into our new life as a family with a PWC (I'm getting to old to fall off a dirt bike and still go to work on Monday).

Just purchased a new 2015 Yamaha VXR  (or VX18R as Aussie dealers seem to want to call it).   Seems like a fun ski from what I've seen on YouTube.  Can't wait for our first ride!

We'll be riding down at Phillip Island, mainly around the Cape Woolamai safety beach area.  Would love to try a ride around the island one day.

Cheers,
Mark

Great choice in Ski Mark, perfect for someone coming from dirt bikes :)

With the Yamaha FZR/FZS being discontinued I've been riding VXR's to get used to them before the Supercharged version comes out later this year to replace them..

They are brilliant and the s/ch version will absolutely fly with just a re flash. Seriously nothing will go with them.

Keep an eye out for the new GP1800R   awsm

Hi all , my name is Mark from SA. I'm relatively new to this so bare with me! I've always loved the water and anything to do with it! Recently my fantastic father in law bought me a 2005 Honda Aquatrax R-12 ( used family boat skiing etc at SwanReach in the past). Having an absolute ball with it on the river and down on the sea! Really enjoy just cruising and taking in the sights and sounds .  Like the idea of joining group with similar interests so I gave this a crack! Cheers Steery 7

We are middle age so not likely to freestyle. However looking forward to much learning and many adventures. Our history with water craft; surf skis, kayaks and boats. So the jet skis roll everything into one.
Hoping to share the joy with you all.

Hi to the group, we are Annette and Scott from the Gold Coast. Just sold our 2008 GTI 130 that we've bought new in 2009. The ski was sold with 480 hours on it. We do like long rides and go to Moreton Is often.
Bought a brand new 2016 GTX 155 Seadoo from the boat show. Now need to wait till 23rd of next month to take delivery. It's going to be a long wait. Hoping the new ski will be a better choice for the open water rides we do.
Looking forward to meeting you all. (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160716/c86549c68f6595a6f10a5eb3483e9fe0.jpg)

Hi Angelo, welcome aboard!

Is your Ski new? If so take it to the dealer to have a quick look at .

If not make sure that the cooling hoses are all connected and that there are no leaks, especially into the hull. On the hose flush it to observe all cooling water outlets are flowing.

One of the main reasons for Skis to over heat is when the cooling passages of the engine block becomes blocked from salt build up and mineral deposits.

We have seen entire blocks packed full of salt at Jet Ski Services. (http://jetski.services/jet-ski-service/) Flushing after ever ride is the best way to prevent this.

Using an additive is also a great idea. Even if riding in fresh water as algae and sand are present there too. Often fresh water is high in mineral deposits too.

There are many products around. We use and recommend Extreme Flush (http://jetski.xxx/jet-ski-engine-flush/) as it is designed for Jet Skis and doesn't require any distribution bottles at all. It also contains a metal cleaner to keep the inside of the block clear.

I don't know why it said Angelo that was some sort of autocorrect. Well I took it to Kawasaki 3 weeks ago for the repairs so I don't know if they missed something or was the seaweed? This was my first time using it. First time he ski had been in water in 4 years. Flush worked fine water coming out both ends but in the water it was spitting out steam out of the front right.

Hi All, I'm new to the forum and new to Jet Ski's. After going out a couple of times with family friends that have skis I got the bug, went and got my license and bought a ski!

I had no idea what problems to look for in a 2nd hand ski so I lashed out and got a new 2016 Yamaha FXHO. So far have only done 5 hours out on the bay, and one spin up the Brisbane river.

So far my only mods are to get rid of the big fountain out the back of the ski, and today I fitted a Ram mounting kit for a Garmin GPSMAP 64s (with BlueCharts) in the useless cup holder.

So far am loving the new bobbie and look forward to meeting a few of you locals in person for a ride soon!

Cheers

Dan

Hi all,
glad to join this great site, I've owned boats for 20 years but only bought a ski a year and a half ago... I reckon I've used the ski more in 1 year than all my boating over the past 20 years.
I enjoy watching and learning from the videos you guys post, and hope to join in on some of your rides.. the main reason for me purchasing my ski was to fish from, but have found I enjoy cruising on calmer days just as much.
I live at Manly (Bris) and head out in front of Straddie when I can, I often see groups of skis on my travels (I assume most likely from here)..... See you on the water.....

warm regards
Andy

Hi there,

I am an early 50's new owner of a near new 2016 Yamaha VX Limited. I (will) mostly ride out of Manly Harbour, and have now done a grand total of 5 hrs ever on a ski! Although I guess it's only my first week.

I purchased this one to be able to get out on my own to fish and sometimes cruise with some of the family.  The VX Limited seems quite adequate so far for my needs, especially as a newbie I guess. It also seems to have a nice range on the 70l tank, and the reverse, cruise control,  and no wake mode are perfect.  In fact, I don't know how you could ride a ski without cruise control over long distances.

I am looking for others out there from the same area for me to accompany them on cruises and fishing to the places that I am a little tentative about going on my own!

I would also like to do a run to Tangalooma - but not on my own- looking for advice and safety guides etc.

I have already made my own fishing ski rig using an esky I already owned, and so far seems to be good enough, at least for the whiting! Classic design copied from many others on the market! See attached. About $60 of parts.

Also seeking advice on added safety gear...EPIRBs, PLBs, sounders/plotters, radios, etc. For instance, the law says carry an EPIRB for outside, but wouldn't a PLB be a better/safer option for a Jetski?

cheers

Paul

Hi Paul, great to meet you :) You're right about the PLB's and the Australian Jet Ski Association has been campaigning for it to be legal for around 2 years. Hopefully the great people that make the laws, yet have never sat on a Ski, actually think it through soon  blma

I'm Craig, just recently bought a Seadoo Spark.

Just really hoping to find a group of people who can help me find my sea legs, find all the good places to go, and have a lot fun along the way.

Hi
I just picked up my first ever Ski last week. A very tidy 2012 Seadoo RXT 260rs. Only 55hours on the clock. Went out Sunday at Redcliffe. Amazing day, and the ski is so much fun.
I'm in my mid 40's. I should have done this years ago.
I would certainly like to join you on some of your weekend adventures.
I have a fishing rack too. So if anyone is keen on a fishing trip just let me know.

What a great site you have here. I've already spent hours just reading.

See you on the water
Dazz

Hi everyone

Recently bought my first ever Jet Ski (a 2012 Seadoo GTR 215) after moving to the Gold Coast from the UK in June.  I had just about found my way around the roads, and now find I need to start all over again with the waterways!

If any of you are planning some sightseeing and don’t mind a newbie tagging along, I would love to explore our amazing waterways, find my way around, and build my confidence on the ski...

Thanks guys

Thoughts of a newbie.
Why did it take me this long?? Apart from towing a few people around Somerset, I am completely new to saltwater and JetSki world. Seriously if your a newbie and thinking of going for a ride with this group, do it. I went on yesterday's ride up the Tweed and had a great day. From the minute I reversed the ski down the ramp someone was willing to help. From a simple thumbs up while riding along, anchoring for me at lunch, help loading the ski, wash down instructions and all the other useful practical advice. Everyone was so helpful, friendly and I guess, just newbie tolerant. Many thanks and see you again soon.

Hey Guys & Gals,

After using a family members Seadoo a few times i guess i got the bug  (i guess it reminded me of my sportsbike days), so i recently picked myself up a '15 FX SVHO cruiser.
I've had it about 2 or 3 weeks, in the first few days so i shot over to Tangalooma (fluked it, perfect conditions) which was great, now i'm looking forward to taking it up to Inskip & Fraser over Xmas too.
Hopefully I'll catch up with some of you on a ride sometime.

Cheers

Hi everyone
Newbies Alan and Vicci just got our first jetski for christmas (for the kids of course), its a 2006 seadoo GTI 130 that I got from a motorcycling buddy. We got it for family fun, tubing and messing about on the river with the kids but we are interested in weekend ride outs and meeting new people. The ski will be due a service soon and a couple of small bits to bring it up to scratch so hopefully you guys can look after us on that score. Also any advice on insurance will be helpful. We are looking forward to getting to know your jetski family in the very near future.
Thanks Alan & Vicci.

Hi Guys and Girls a bit of an into blurb, had my latest Ski a  2012 Yamaha FX SHO for a year or so now. Was purchased to replace the boat with the intent of being a fishing, Wake Boarding and wave jumping toy.  With kids working and sporting commitments it does not get used as much as I would like. It also didn’t help that I was laid up for a good part of 2016 after a nasy spill while racing motocross.  Anyways I am back to full strength and keen to get out and about on the ski (between race days) for a bit of adventure riding and fishing and am keen to learn about places to go and tips and tricks.
Cheers

Hi Geoff,

I would love to go however would prefer to commit closer to Sunday as i would like a  more updated weather forecast. Maybe Friday morning would be ideal to look at the weather again.

I've been across the bay to Tangalooma from the Port plenty of times. I don't think you will keep up with the Flyer its pretty quick in rough weather. Maybe you have already.
I use my compass its only one bearing point the whole trip easy!

What do you think?

G'day all,

Picked up a new SeaDoo few months ago, and kicked off the shenanigans - my first ever ride on a ski - with a trip from TCB across to Inskip and then on to the Double Island Point light via the breaker line at Rainbow. Fantastic!!

Next trip I put two kiddies on the back and went from Nudgee to Tangalooma and had a great day around the wrecks, then got knocked about when Moreton did her usual trick of defying the weather bureau and roughing up for the return!! Since then have been to Mogerah, Somerset, a nice jaunt from Jindalee to the river mouth and return, and across from Colmslie to St Helena for brekkie.

With that under my belt, I'm thinking that I'm familiar enough with my ski to have a crack at some really interesting stuff .... I've always wanted to have a close look at the remains of the Rufus King in the South Passage. Probably more from a nostalgic perspective .... I used to see it's superstructure from Flinders Beach as a kiddy and swore one day I'd check it out!! Now's my time!!

Has anybody had any experience with this trip and can offer any advice??? I'm really mad about safety stuff ... and realise that some wrecks, by definition, are in dangerous waters ... would it be better to try this in company with another ski rather than my customary solo adventures??? I'd only ever do it on an ultra flat forecast using GPS guidance ... and likely on an incoming tide. Would it be best to leave from Manly... or Fishermans Island for this trip would you say??

Look forward to your insights ...

Hey Meawls...i dunno if theres any of the rufus left, ive been over the bar dozens of times and never seen her. I read on another forum years ago some guy stumbled across a wreck in there in big seas when she popped out in a trough. Definately a way better ride to South passage from Manly or even raby bay. Opens up your ride to all the great spots like horseshoe, rainbow, little ship club, and make sure you stop in at the gutter bar. As with all bar crossings exercise caution, buddy up, and make sure someone knows where you are.

G'Day Johno,

Thanks ... see this link ...   http://www.satellite-sightseer.com/id/8221/Australia/Queensland/Brisbane/Wreck_of_the_Rufus_King   ...  I was aware that the superstructure had long ago ceased to be visible, but there sure as hell seems to be a bit of the back end remaining. The front part was refloated and re-used soon after it was sunk, so it was only ever the back end left behind.

Just looking at what the google earth shot shows, it's a fair bet that what's left may well be visible in a big trough, as you mentioned. I have the GPS coordinates, so getting close to it shouldn't be a problem.

You are based at Flinders Beach?? My parents bought one of the first blocks released there in 1966 (I think the street is named "Providence St") ... and it was during visits there and camping trips that we'd see the wreck. Unfortunately they sold the block in 1996 or so.

Are there any pitfalls to be aware of when making the approach from Manly to the passage???

Many thanks for the input mate, and look forward to more of your local knowledge!

https://www.facebook.com/hookedonline.com.au/videos/1227761970587322/

what's left of her anyway. no im not a flinders local, to me the northern end of north straddie and southern moreton island are the best of SEQ, and when the swell is up, the best wave jumping we have access to is at flinders.

referring to charts: http://www.msq.qld.gov.au/-/media/MSQInternet/MSQFiles/Home/boatingmaps/MoretonBaybeacon.pdf?la=en

maps 12 and 13, the whole area west and north of south passage is green zones (6 knots) apart from the rainbow passage and the rous (tricky nav, not well marked).

hopefully, I'll get to Brisbane for a ride in the next few weeks, I'll  let you know if that happens, maybe get a small group organised (I run away from large groups on the water ag) maybe see ya then.

Thanks Johno,

Outstanding footage of the wreck there ..... first time I've seen it since I was 10 or 11 years old!! Was a real blast to watch!

Would like to stay in the loop .... I tend to be more of a solo operator, but understand the need for safety in unfamiliar locales .... so a small group is definitely the go for me too!!

Cheers, and thanks again for posting the footage!

Hi to everyone
Have recently update my seadoo to  a flash new 155 wakeski , i'm a FIFO miner week , working  week off so in my spare time i like to get on the water as much as possible, if not on the ski i'm one of those pesky kite surfers at shearwater
Always keen to have a play in the waves off straddie and quite often shoot up to the pin to have a kite, looking forward to doing a few group rides as well

I had a polycraft 4.5 frontrunner about 12 years ago I used for skiing, tubing etc with my kids & explored Moreton bay a little back then.
I'm now very keen to get back into more exploration of our beautiful waterways this time aboard my jetski (quite rapid thing) my first ride was Mooloolaba last weekend & loved it. So yeah looking forward to catching up with like minded folk.

Hi Everyone
My name is Celeste and my Husband and  Son all ride Yamahas, Hubbie and I have  2009 skis, Son is on a 2005 ski,  Iam 47 Hubbie is 48 and Son is 24, we discovered riding PWC after we sold our boat . Our first ski was a 1996 Waverrunner Ventura and it is still putting out 110 on all cylinders, we only just sold it ! It was one reliable unit that put most of the Seadoos to shame LOL. We love that we can do this as a Family and the best bit is we don't have to share our ski LOL. I also ride a horse and I do reining which is a discipline Iam still establishing for those not in the know its the horse that spins and does sliding stops lol.  We are hoping to do the Goulburn river ride in June with the Victorian Jet Ski Club, once the weather heats up again we would love to meet like minded people that enjoy exploring Port Phillip.
We are not interested in meeting hoons , people that do not know the rules or ignore them while on the water .
We also own a Saint Bernard dog. We live in Narre Warren  and own a house in Moe that we are renovating so Narracan is somewhere where we will put the skis in as well. We look forward to sharing our PWC exeriences and reading about yours .  lovf

Hello everyone.
Happy owner of a new SeaDoo GTi 130 (never had a ride before) I live on the Northern Gold Coast for the best of the water fun.
I’ve fitted it with a Fishski and hope to find mates to go fishing (trolling, lures...).

I’ll be checking the forum for advice, group rides, etc. And for crime partners on the best fishing spots!

Oh and by the way I’m French too...

Went out from 9 to 12 from Runaway Bay up to Jumpinpin with a friend. On the way back saw a big group of riders going opposite way... then we went out in the open ocean from the Spit (Jumpinpin was quite scary to go out...).
Was a great day to go out!!

Hi,

My wife, Gabrielle and I have decided that jet skis are our new hobby.  Well, Gab decided, I was just a (very) willing participant.  Our two teenage boys were a bit happy about the decision as well.

After much investigation and a long wait our two Sea Doo GTX 230's arrived on Tuesday.  We've started the run in process with a trip out to Somerset yesterday and smiles and laughter were in abundance.

Sandstone Point on Pumicstone Passage is our closest major waterway, although Somerset is only 45 minutes away, as we live out at Wamuran.  Our main objective is family time out on the water, but we are very keen for touring and extended (multiple day) trips.  We would love to catch up with other club members as we have a lot to learn, so I will be keeping an eye on the day trips and hope to get on one soon.

This club forum has already been very helpful, so thank you.  See you out on the water. Stu.
