Jet Ski Freeride Event 2014 SURF SLAM - Friday 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of May
« on: February 13, 2014, 11:39:48 AM »
Sunshine Coast Jet Sport Club are proud to present the 2014 SURF SLAM. This will consist of a two day event that includes the third round of the Krash Series and Rip'n'Ride.

Since our last event, we have listened to the feedback and are excited to say that we have a new event site, new dates and a new after-party venue. The new site is located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast and is directly behind the most popular skate park at Alexandra Headland. We expect to attract more and new types of spectators.

The event will be held on Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of May 2014.

Friday will be the Third Round of the Krash Series - the current series is bigger and better than ever before and with its competitive nature has taken the sport to new levels. Riders of all abilities go head to head until a champion of each class is crowned. We will hold the heats and semis on Friday with the finals held at lunch time on Saturday to get the best spectator exposure. We will also have a freestyle area allocated for those riders that are not competing and want to get their feet wet.

Saturday will be the Rip 'n' Ride using the same format as the Cronulla Rip ‘n’ Ride. This allows for plenty of free-riding mixed with the usual competitions like Biggest Air, Sickest Trick and Cherry Popper Backflip.

Saturday night will the after party and prize giving in the Bluff Bar at the Alex Surf Club. This will give all the chance to reflect on the day's riding, receive their prizes and show off on the dance floor.

We have put a lot of focus into the event site with consideration to the sponsors, spectators, local accommodation, safe and secure parking, food, alcohol and the after-party. You will have the ability to walk to the event, get award-winning food, alcohol, and attend the after party from your room in less than 100 metres.

We have approached both the Break Free and Mandolin Resorts regarding package pricing for accommodation. Both are directly across the road from the event and local surf club, and offer a pool and spa. The Break Free has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom options and the Mandolin has 1 and 2 bedroom options overlooking the event.

These accommodation options also allow for those bringing family and friends along – the short distance to the event from each of these accommodation options allows riders to head off early in the morning followed by their family at a more realistic time.

We are yet to secure the sponsors and confirm exclusive access to the after party venue but we have permission from the Council, Surf Club and MSQ which are always the biggest hurdles.

We will be capping numbers to ensure we have a controllable event and plenty of ride time for all riders. Entries will go live on the 1st of March and are open to all levels of riding and age. We are hoping for good numbers based on the entries to round 1 and 2 of the Krash series.

There is plenty of information to come over the next few weeks and months. This will include the classes, entry pricing, pricing for accommodation, catering prices for the after party, secure parking information, list of events etc.

Please feel free to contact a member of the Surf Slam 2014 team.

Only one more week to go  blma

When: FRIDAY 2nd & SATURDAY 3rd MAY 2014 Starts at 8:30am till 3pm
Where:
Beach in front of Alexandra Headland Skate Park, Alexandra Headland.
We chose Alex Skate Park to bring the event right to the heart of the coast. We want to see spectators in massive numbers
What:
> The 3rd annual AJSP SURF SLAM 2014 is a freeride jetski competition and is the pride of the Sunshine Coast Jet Sports Club.
> The event encapsulates the spirit of freeriding with the gathering of Australia and New Zealand's best riders to the Sunshine Coast to do battle.
> The event is over 2 days and includes the Final Round of the "KRASH Australian Titles" and the "Rip n Ride" Freeride Competition.
SCJSC in conjunction with SCC, MSQ and many sponsors are gearing for the best event in the history of the sport. This is due to the great new location at Alex Skate Park, the support of the community and the support of many incredible sponsors.
> We will have 2 days of music, food, BMX freestyle demos, grandstand for spectators, and expert
commentary all day. Our presentation will be at Alex Surf club and we have their full support.
> We currently have 80 competitors from all over Australia and New Zealand converging on the coast for the event.
> Some of the Awards up for grabs include: Biggest Air, Sickest trick, First to sink, and Cherry Popper — where young riders are coached on the beach by experts before taking to the water to attempt their first backflips. This is always a highlight of the event for spectators.
Who we are:
SCJSC is a non-profit organisation that has run for over 20 years on the Sunshine Coast. We recently had our 2nd Mates Day, where we took mentally and physically disabled people for jetski rides. We are a community minded group aimed at promoting the positive side of jetskis.
What we are humbly asking for:
We need the help of the media to promote the event and make the Sunshine Coast aware of it. We are available for interviews or demonstrations any time prior.
If you require footage or pictures - we have them. Attached is our event poster
I look forward to hearing from you,
Matt O'Connor
