Title: Tangalooma & Flinders Reef - Saturday 3rd March '18 from Manly.
Post by: Mandy on February 28, 2018, 10:04:56 AM
 wh

The weathers looking perfect for it!
We'll be leaving Manly at 8.30 and heading over to Tangalooma.
Bring a Thermos of Coffee and some breakky as the next stop will be Flinders Reef!!!
We will be stopping off at the Champagne Pools on Moreton on the way back before heading to Tangas for a swim and then back to Manly.
You'll need to bring a packed lunch as we won't be able to stop at Bulwer too due to time!

As always everyone is welcome to join us  blma

You'll need an extra fuel for this one. We'll be taking 30 litres on the supercharged Skis

You will also need an EPIRB or preferably a PLB for the trip to Flinders.
We use and recommend there PLB's http://www.allsatshop.com.au/collections/plb/products/rescueme-plb1

Whatever you do don't forget the Goggles and Flippers and camera!!

Any questions please post below as were flat out at work and I probably cant answer the phone  chr

Hope to see you then!!!

I’m keen, is the Flinders Reef part suitable for a beginner who’s never been in the ocean before?

Hi mate I would think the hardest part of going offshore is crossing the bar to get there.
In this case there is no bar to cross.

Moreton Bay can however get quite big swell with the weekend looking like around 2 foot. Swell is usually quite straightforward to ride in compared to the breakers in the surf zone.
So I would recommend you definitely don't go too close to shore.

But if you have ridden in Moreton Bay before you should be able to manage it.

Having said that, whilst we are all riding together you're the skipper and you're responsible for you, your ski and any passengers you may have so I guess it is up to you to make that decision!

No, the other end :)

Just put Fairlaed Cr or Trafalgar Street at Manly in your GPS.

It's right next door to the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club and Coast Guard.

See you all tomorrow. The weathers looking awesome for it!!!
