Jet Ski Information Caloundra 6knot ZONE
« on: February 01, 2015, 05:33:26 PM »
After a discussion this weekend with a few fellow Jet skiers about where the 6knot zone starts and finishes I decided to do some homework and find out.

As you know its not very well sign posted so here is my interpretation based on the
Queensland Government Maritime Safety Queensland Page
  http://www.msq.qld.gov.au/~/media/msqinternet/msqfiles/home/waterways/speed%20limits/speedlimitsqldwaterways.pdf

Schedule of speed limits in Queensland as at April 2014

1. The waters of all canals (unless otherwise prescribed) 6 knots All 21 May 2004
2. The waters of all boat harbours and marinas 6 knots All 21 May 2004
3. Smooth water limits (unless otherwise prescribed) 40 knots All 21 May 2004
8. SUNSHINE COAST
Pumicestone Passage — Caloundra
The waters extending from the shore for a distance of 100 metres commencing at a jetty adjacent to Raleigh Street (Military Jetty) northward along Golden Beach and Bulcock Beach to the extension of Minchinton Street. 6 knots All 21 May 2004

I have added in the 6knot zone on the right of the map as well (But interestingly enough not published from what I can tell)

My freehand map

Now as I mention this is my interpretation of the QLD Document as above.
I cant be held responsible if it is incorrect. Always be aware of your Surrounds and the rules associated to your location and craft
