Title: Cook Island & Tweed River - Sunday 15th July '18 8.30am departure
Post by: Mandy on July 11, 2018, 08:35:23 AM
Hi everyone,

The weather is looking quite good all weekend but at this stage we have to work Saturday (still busy with servicing in July!) so Sundays the go.

We haven't done the Tweed for a while so thats the plan.

We'll launch from the ramp at Kennedy Drive  https://goo.gl/maps/XyiqDKZa3942 (https://goo.gl/maps/XyiqDKZa3942) for an 8.30 departure

If the forecast stays as is we'll head out to Cook Island where we hope to see some Whales. Tie up to the moorings for a chat (bring a thermos, camera and snorkel)  cf   snkl cmra and then we'll go to Fingal Head to play in the waves.

After that we plan to go for a run up the Tweed River to enjoy the spectacular scenery of Mount Warning.

We plan to be back at the ramp by around noon for a Fish and Chips lunch in the park there.

Bring a warm jacket and a great sense of humor and FUN. Hope to see you there   cl

Hi Stuart, wc aboard :)

You,ve brought the perfect jacket. You wear it over your lifejacket and any rashies etc.

When its really cold I wear one under my lifejacket and one over the top ;) but it should be beautiful in the sunshine tomorrow!

See you at the ramp everyone  countsheep

Any questions just post them here to help anyone else that's wondering too.  chr

We're not carrying extra fuel

You don't need a PLB for Cook Island.

The only question that's wrong is the one you don't ask so fire away  br

Wow, what an awesome day on the water!

So spoiled it was just flat out FUN all day  blma

Started with a 7am launch at the Grand Ramp and headed out the front just south of the sand pumping jetty to watch the GC Freeriders having a play. The Freeride side of the sport is so spectacular to watch. I never get sick of it!

Then it was time to head South to meet everyone at the Tweed ramp for a Whale watching Ride.

Didn't see too many on my way down there. Conditions were mint so I had to keep a close eye on the water  rotflmao

Refuel and then we set off for Cook Island and the Whales were out in force.

It was warm as toast in the sun until I went swimming with the Whales  cl shk

Next we headed over to Fingal Head for a play in the waves. The water was just beautiful too.

After all the fun and excitement outside we went for a spin up the Tweed which never disappoints

And then it was back to Kennedy Drive for the award winning Fish and Chips.

thx everyone who joined in. There's some great footage we'll have up later this week.

Skis are all washed and tucked away and I'm outa here!   ht15
