What an exciting weekend of racing. The new format of practice & education program for new racers worked well on the Saturday. This seemed to set them up well for full racing on Sunday. The feature stock class event was great to watch with a strong field. Really enjoyed the qualifying format for this class to determine starting positions on the line..

The STOCKtober titles held at Atkinsons Dam on October 27th & 28th were a great success with a number of new entries to spice up the action.

The day was all about stock class and very competitive regulars were competing against others from different classes. Of course there was all the action from Ski class and the Clubman class.

It was also good to see some experienced riders and officials take part in the activities.
John Moyle, the ‘Colonel’, was on site to act as race director and proved that he has still got it. He controlled the day like clock work and established a great and efficient race day for everyone.

The ski class also saw the return of Ross Guerts on his Brisbane Jetskis Kawasaki SXR and was super competitive from race 1.
Aaron Kelly also was very fast and consistent on his Yamaha Superjet and ended up taking out the round win. It was a bitter sweet weekend for Tyson Hayes as he was probably the quickest around the track but couldn’t capitalise to take the win and ended up in third place.
It was also good to see more representation in this class from Brisbane Jetskis and a beautifully turned out #93 Superjet from Custom Jetskis.

The Clubman naturally aspirated class saw the ultra fast Watson Racing’s Ben Mountford dominate the first three races as Chris Lidicky and James Ritchie fought over 2nd and 3rd place.
Ultimately it would be James’s race win in race three that separated the two riders. Chris Lidicky will undoubtedly be a strong competitor and a chance to take out the up coming N.A. championships in November if he can topple the dominant Yamaha VXR of Ben Mountford.

James Ritchie will be swapping his GPR for a triple pipe Yamaha GPR for the next round in a hope to topple the VXR’s impressive record. Also confirmed for the N.A. championships is Rick Bardell on his Seadoo XP which is rumoured to be very fast.

The Stock class was very exciting all day and provided some close side by side racing. All competitors had the track to themselves for one timed lap in Qualifying which also saw some drama as Wade Clucas’s Seadoo RXP had mechanical problems on its flying lap and had to retire for the day.
In the wash up, Mark Dallow shot to the top of the time sheet early in the session with a 45.5 and was never headed. Daniel Anderson came close on his flyer with a 46.2 and Christian D’Agostin ended up third on the time sheets 1.8 seconds from Marks blistering time.

In the races, it turned out to be a different story as Christian won the first three races ahead of the 44 Yamaha of Mark. Despite Mark winning the final race of the day, second place for Christian, on his Gold Coast Waverunner – Performance Centre built Yamaha, was enough to secure him round honours. Daniel Anderson beat home Brisbane Kawasaki’s Ultra 300X of Jamie Eade on his FZR. Amongst the mid pack there was fierce competition and at different stages of the day, the final step on the podium was up for grabs.

There was not a big field of Open class runabouts but that didn’t mean the racing wasn’t tight. Both machines built by Gold Coast WaveRunner for customer Mitch Wayt and team rider Matt Brunt fought it out all day but a DNS in race three for Matt Brunt handed the win to the 543 machine of Mitch. It was a very respectable performance for his first race.
Don’t miss the next event. The NA’vember Championships Nov 24th & 25th ’12.
