Jet Ski News Two speed Gearbox

A two speed shiftable gear box designed as a bolt in unit for pwc's is currently being tested here in Brisbane with great results achieved so far.
The unit being trialed has to date returned an increase in range of up to approximately 70% for a standard tank of fuel allowing for different weather conditions and on board weights.
We have found this to be on par with the same range when carrying an extra two 20 liter fuel containers, while not sacrificing an extra 40 kilo's of weight capacity for the extra range.
Also noted has been an increase in top speed and acceleration depending on the impeller setup used during testing.

Yes, I've always thought a gearbox would be awesome. However I've always thought gearing down not up with a taller pitch on the prop would work better.
Now were in the dawn of electric motors with many being tested in Skis around the broadwater.

This means we're able to consider direct drive up to 16000 rpm or more as opposed to topping out at 10 which makes for a very interesting bright future indeed wh
